Legal quarrel between a UK curry house and the easyGroup
This story was reported in various media last week.  The easyGroup, (whose brands include easyJet) had approached a UK restaurant owner using the name easyCurry, ordering them to change both their branding and name or face legal action.  See the first link to the story on to see the advert the restaurant was using.  The restaurant initially challenged the order saying that no-one had the exclusive right over the word, but later backed down (see second link).  This isn’t the first challenge the group has made, they are extremely active in the policing of their brand – in fact they have an entire section on their website dedicated to “brand thieves”!
