Visualising concepts for communicating in development

This post isn’t totally unrelated to my earlier post about our SDM project , in that it references techniques that visualise problems to create a greater understanding and impact.  The lead link is from the Private Sector Development Blog of the World Bank and they have included a simulation from the “so_many_a_second” site.  The PSDblog says:

“Interestingly, the website allows users to create their own data flows: it’s easy to envisage plenty of applications for education and advocacy purposes.”

These are techniques worth keeping in mind with the “end of year reporting season” on its way!  In the words of the American Journal of Education back in 1858:

“One fact well understood by observation, and well guided development, is worth a thousand times more than a thousand words”
